Thalapathy Vijay is set to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from Perambur and Trichy East — the first time his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), will field candidates in an Assembly contest.

TVK’s Debut in the Assembly Elections

While announcing the party’s candidates, Vijay urged voters to give TVK a fair shot. “Vote for whistle — it’s a whistle revolution election,” he said, pointing to the party’s election symbol.

Vijay pledged three key commitments: building a drug-free Tamil Nadu, providing monthly financial support for citizens who remain unemployed after the age of 29, and introducing a law mandating accountability and transparency in government job recruitment.

Taking on DMK in Two Strongholds

Both seats Vijay is contesting are held by the DMK. RD Sekar is the sitting MLA for Perambur, while Inigo S Irudayaraj represents Trichy East. The Vijay elections push comes despite several setbacks ahead of the polls, with TVK pressing ahead regardless.
